Daily High Temperatures
September is the second hottest month of the year in Fuerteventura (after August) with daytime highs of between 27 and 32°C. As always, temperatures may be a little higher in the south and interior of the island, as well as on terraces sheltered from the wind.
Nightly Low Temperatures
It will generally be quite warm at night, with lows of about 22°C. Great for sitting out in restaurant terraces at night, but you’ll be glad to have air-conditioning in your hotel room.
Rain?
In most years, it doesn’t rain at all in September with a median total precipitation of just 0.4mm. However, nothing is guaranteed, and in September 2022, there was a whopping 65.9mm of rain! A local newspaper reported that some parts of Fuerteventura received more rain in 24 hours than they had received during the previous 10 years combined.
Cloudy?
In September, it is mostly wall-to-wall sunshine, with perhaps a few cloudy mornings in the north of the island. You could, of course, be extremely unlucky and get freak rain, but September is generally regarded as one of the best times of year to visit the island.
Wind
By the end of the month, the Trade Winds begin to lose their dominance over the weather in Fuerteventura, making September less windy than July and August. There is usually still a breeze though, with the possibility of some still days – especially in the second half of the month.
Sea Temperature
The sea is at its warmest around Fuerteventura in September with a peak of between 22 and 24°C. As you might expect, the water will be even warmer in sheltered lagoons and in the shallows by late afternoon.
